Since its inception in 1932 Tezel & Cotter has been designing, installing, and maintaining air conditioning and heating systems in San Antonio and South Texas. We have earned a reputation for job quality, dependability and integrity in both our service and construction divisions.

Mr. William E. Ebert, a mechanical engineer from New York, founded Ebert Air Conditioning, the parent company of Tezel & Cotter. This was the first company in the area to concentrate its efforts in the “new field” of air conditioning. Mr. Ebert passed away in 1948, and the company was purchased by Otto E. Tezel, his Plumbing Foreman and by Mr. R.P. Cotter, a local Mechanical Engineer. At that time the company was renamed Tezel and Cotter Air Conditioning Co. and it continued to grow in the installation and servicing of heating and air conditioning systems. In 1964, Paul Tezel joined the company as service manager and in 1968 R.J. Cotter joined the company in the construction department. In 1995, Paul Tezel purchased R.J. Cotter’s outstanding shares and appointed Stephen Tezel Vice President in charge of construction and John Tezel Vice President in charge of Business Operations.

The construction division has installed complete mechanical and plumbing systems for schools, churches, commercial and industrial buildings, malls, interior finish-outs, and numerous government projects. These systems include clean rooms, computer rooms, large chill water systems, and complex historic renovations. Our automated sheet metal shop uses the latest technology to fabricate ductwork and other sheet metal.

The service department provides numerous customers with planned preventative maintenance, and specializes in servicing all makes and models of commercial and industrial equipment from small packaged units, to large complex chillers, boilers, pumps, and air handlers. Our technicians are factory certified to work with all major brands of air conditioning equipment including computer room air conditioning equipment. Services are provided for retail establishments, office buildings, financial institution, medical facilities, computer rooms and industrial facilities
